DescriptionFollow up to the Shadow War of Hawkman mini-series, Hawkman continues to fight against his fellow Thanagarians as they secretly attempt to invade Earth. Classic Silver Age Hawkman Villain, the Shadow Thief (from Hawkman's 3rd Silver Age appearance) has been recruited by the Thanagarians - his visual appearance is always striking in its simplicity.Howell's rendition of Hawkman and Hawkgirl are my favorites and I found this run of Hawkman the best that's been done to-date - Isabella brought a focus to what made Hawkman different: his and Hawkgirl's relationship, their origins from another planet, and the mix of brains and brawn (the former of which seemed to be forgotten by some authors). Thrilled to get one of the covers for this run. Social/Sharing |

The cover is amazing as the art style and composition is throwback and reminscent of the Kubert era. You can feel the high drama and high stakes!

Defintely a Kubert vibe - Howell did such a great job updating the characters while capturing the original feel. (There's some resemblence between this and the Showcase #103 cover too, with the line work in the back ground and the energy effects.)
