Additional info about this piece- (Excerpt from an email to me from Barry Windsor- Smith Studio): “These pages have been greatly enhanced by Barry in 2016. He was never satisfied with Valiant's production of this series and has taken his time to revisit each page to add details and shadows. The original lettering was removed by Valiant for production so pages have also been re-lettered in the Studio.” Social/Sharing |

Gorgeous Robert! Congrats!
Thanks! I was super happy to grab this page. This issue and it's revisionist history really inspired me to seek out stories outside of capes and superheroes. I was 13ish when it came out, and found myself discovering Gaiman, Alan Moore, but also the classics, Man in the Iron mask, Doyle, Dracula, Shelly, Wilde, etc. It was a gateway, because I wanted to know what it was based on, and once you fall down that rabbit you make many trips to the library. Lol.

Love the enhanced pages - I expect he has some quality scans so perhaps we can see the book published in this enhanced glory!

This is a real beauty! Pure BWS runinng through every exquisite line. I recently picked up some issues of BWS Storyteller and the writing has a similar tongue-in-cheek feel - was this written by Smith too? Congratulations on such a magnificent piece.
