Description

In very poor form, wealthy businessman Imus Champion hires Hawkeye to teach him archery and then uses the knowledge to attempt to trigger bombs along the San Andreas fault lines in California. Here, Hawkeye is strapped to the bomb Champion intends to trigger. Hawkeye refers to having recently left the Avengers, (having gone to California to try and rekindle his romance with the Black Widow).

I remember being a bit confused by the art as a kid - it was clearly in the style appearing in Marvel Triple Action which reprinted the earliest Avengers issues (of course by Heck beginning with Avengers #9), which seemed a regression relative to recent art by Adams, Smith, Buckler and Cockrum in the series.

It definitely looks like a throwback to early Heck Avengers with each character getting a panel by themselves.
