Description

Pure Gene Colan Pencils were used on this cover as was the case for the entire series I believe. Colors were then supplied by Dave Stewart. Gene made this version of Dracula more beastly and not quite the suave gentleman that he was originally written and portrayed in the movies. Even more extreme than from Gene's Tomb of Dracula days. From the original art you can see how Gene used an eraser to blur some image areas in order to achieve a misty effect. Unfortunately this effect was not carried over into the final product after the colors were added.

I was never aware that Colan had done a Dracula book for another publisher. Great pencil work and so cool that Dark Horse also got Marv Wolfman to reunite with Colan on the project!

I knew of it because I had Gene and Marv sign issue #3 for me but I had never gotten a chance to read the whole story, so I just ordered it on ebay
