Description

Having healed from the ambush, the team returns fire. Great shots of Nicky, Joe & Booker in action, taking out Copley's guys. All of that sound effect text was drawn in around/behind the panels, so detailed. Really gives a sense for how much lead they wanted to imply was flying about. Looks pretty cool as you move from panel to panel too.

Without overcomplicating the visuals and obscuring the story, this visual effect in between panels lets us imagine the carnage in gunfire exchange through all the jump cuts! Visually cinematic device that probably got the attention of people to make a show out of this series.

I don't think I've been this impressed by onomatopoeia on a comic's page since Ken Bruzenak back in the 80s.
