"Louise Simonson writes a current continuity Jean Grey mini-series" was definitely not one of my Fall of X predictions but it's certainly the announcement I was most excited for. Louise Simonson! Writing a current era X-Men comic! What!

Another big draw to this series: Amy Reeder's covers. The covers for this series have teased at revisiting some big dramatic Jean Grey moments and each one has made me excited to see how this mini all plays out. I actually added this book to my pull list after seeing the cover and solicit for this issue because I am totally down for a big fire and life incarnate-y angstfest.

There's a printed thumbnail on the back of the page that Amy Reeder used to lightbox the pencils and inks (which she mentions in her posts on this very internet website). It's neat to to see a bit of the behind-the-scenes process--literally, in this case.

Also: this is my first ever piece of cover artwork!

Beautiful cover! Reeder has us in the plam of her hand with this image where we are just a much in love with Jean as Cyclops. We are willing to ignore the Dark Phoenix within her that will consume us in flames.

haha, sorry about that! I just happened to refresh my CAF dashboard at exactly the right time and jumped on it.

Your collection is blowing my mind btw. The X-Men #30 and Uncanny #308 sections especially, wow.
