DescriptionMudpack is one of my favorite Batman stories, bringing together all four of the various Clayfaces that had existed in Batman's history up to that point!Clayface III aka Preston Payne collapses, clinging to the head of his mannequin 'wife' Helena. As the GCPD are about to recapture him, Lady Clayface (disguised as Looker from Batman & The Outsiders) comes to his rescue. I'm a big fan of Looker and my very first introduction to the character was this page right here, where Lady Clayface took her likeness and powers to recruit Preston Payne into the Mudpack. Who knows? Maybe if Looker had teamed-up with Batman on a more regular basis, I'd have a Looker gallery on CAF instead of a Maxima gallery? Either way, happy that this great Breyfogle example, from one of my favorite Batman stories, has made its way into my collection. Social/Sharing |

Wow, congrats, man! This Breyfogle era of Detective Comics was so fantastic in both story and art. The Mudpack story was fun, and as a fan of Batman and the Outsiders since its debut in 1983, I had a soft spot for Looker and it was great to see her appear here. What a great page!

It ain't no joke, I'd like to buy the Breyfogle
And Steve Mitchell that inks in perfect harmony
And teach the world to snuff the mud and Helena
Clay, I know it's just a song, but it's face for the Payne you see
This is a mud attack, I know it went out, batarang
It's just like a mudpack, he collapse with mannequin
And just like fashion it's a passion for the pencils and inks
If you got the goods, they'll come and buy it
Just to stay in comics
So don't delay, ship now, Todd Klein lettering out
Allow if you're still alive, six to eight years to arrive
And if you follow there's Maxima tomorrow
But if best Looker's is gunned
You might as well be gawking at her bum

It was impossible not to love this story. And issue 604 had a free poster inside! I loved those mini posters that DC occasionally inserted into the books back then.
