DescriptionThe Legendary Adventures of Mickey the Kid and Six-Shot Goofy is a western genre series with Mickey and Goofy as lead characters that includes 12 different stories (plus a remake), first published on Topolino (Mickey Mouse) magazine between 1974 and 2008.Le Grandi Saghe reprinted part of these stories, this cover rough in particular is inspired by G.B. Carpi's title page of Topolino Kid contro "Jack la Vaporiera", first published on Topolino #1044, story of which I do own an original page. While it was present in the rough prelim, Freccero decided not to include Mickey's black horse, Killer, probably for composition's sake (anyway he got to draw him on Le Grandi Saghe #22 cover). I do really love Andrea's recreation of Carpi's page, the pupil doing a heartfelt tribute to his Master. Also worth noting that on these Le Grandi Saghe covers for "The Legendary Adventures of Mickey the Kid and Six-Shot Goofy" you can still spot the firearms in the holsters, I guess an exception since firearms have been banned from Disney comics (if you read Topolino magazine, the new stories in the past few years do not include any firearm, even the ones set in the Old Wild West). In the additional images, Carpi's title page for Topolino kid contro "Jack la Vaporiera" and Freccero's published cover, digitally colored. Please also check the cover rough as well as the cover prelim. Huge thanks to Andrea and Giacomo! Paper size: 25 x 35 cm Social/Sharing |

I've always liked Ducks better, but the western stories of Mickey and Goofy were fantastic. Great cover!

Mickey is a wonderful character, but I believe is much tougher than ducks to get right... in Italy we kind of developed our own version of him in the comics, different from the American one, with mixed results... I admit my favorite version now is the recent animated one created by Paul Rudish, I feel it's true to the original spirit :)

Gorgeous Mickey Mouse cover by Andrea Freccero! Incredibly nice looking art that really brings Mickey and Goofy to life. Comic book life, at least. lBeautfiul pick-up, congrats!
