DescriptionIt’s ironic that I was thinking about finally posting this gouache piece yesterday and today, as Facebook has informed me today was the day Allen publicly displayed it on there three years ago; maybe on some level I remembered that. This was my second commission from Allen, and he knocked it out of the park, just as he did with the first piece he did for me. I can’t recommend him enough, and I appreciate all the in-progress photos he provided; I’m a sucker for seeing pieces go from start to finish. So this piece is of Mimi Masters going the Colonial Marine route against the Xenomorphs, along with her cat Aloysius. In a hilarious bit of Dula Luck, part of my request for the commission was having Al with a Xenomorph in its mouth. I’ve been taking care in stray cats from the early 80s until now, with only a little over a year in that time where I didn’t have a cat. One thing about cats is they can snap the neck of prey without breaking the skin. So I had this idea of Al snapping the neck of a Xenomorph, killing it without exposing him to its acidic blood. The first bit of Dula Luck is that between my commissioning this piece and Allen completing it there was an official piece of Alien artwork with Jonesy carrying a dead Xenomorph in its mouth. If someone looks at my piece they’re going to think it’s a riff on that piece, rather than two people having the same idea at the same time. The second bit of Dula Luck was that after the Jonesy piece was posted on Facebook there was an outpouring of internet rage from folks who were insistent that Jonesy wouldn’t have been able to kill the Xenomorph without exposure to its acid blood, followed by rage from people who are actually familiar with how cats kill. I involved myself in that one, and the nerd rage was glorious. Social/Sharing |

Nerd Rage is the BEST Rage. (Really like how this turned out).
Just so I'm clear, this is all the work of same Allan/Allen with multiple last names?

Yep. "Allan Jeff" is what he goes by on Facebook, while his account here is under "Allan Jefferson." Then I talked to someone on here a while ago and they noted he goes under "Allan Souza" as well.
I've missed out on some artwork over the years because I was unaware of different names artists went by, so I thought I should list them all. Though as I tyoe this I wonder if I should be listing my "Dave Dorman" stuff as "David Dorman" as well.
