Description

Animal Lad by Nate Stockman

Way back in Adventure Comics #331, Animal Lad aka Ennis Janhson attended tryouts for membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes. Unfortunately, he auditioned at the worst time possible, because the Legion had been taken over by the evil Dynamo Boy. Ennis was found to be honorable and incorruptible, and therefore Dynamo Boy rejected him for membership. So instead, Animal Lad used his abilities to transform humans into animals and animals into humans to become the Central Director for Endangered Species Control at the Metropolis Game Preserve. Many years later, Animal Lad appeared again as a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes! Unfortunately, Ennis has somehow become stuck between a lion and human form, but the Subs don't judge! I loved this new look for Ennis, and he is the only Sub that I haven't commissioned Nate Stockman to draw, so of course this happened! Nate killed it, like he always does, drawing a ferocious Animal Lad roaring into battle! I love the lion face, I love the pose, and I love the gorgeous colors! Thanks, as always, to Nate for doing an awesome job on every single commission!

There's plenty of Christ symbolism with Superman already through various films' depictions, add the look of a lion for the Lion of Judah and the connection is complete.

Dynamic pose and love how he barely fits on the board! And Nate keeps getting better and better with those colors. Congrats!
