DescriptionPublished 1972Demon Spawn written by Marv Wolfman and Steve Skeates Nightflame attacks Supergirl with her flame-sword and takes her spirit to the Innerverse where she plans to transfer Supergirl's powers to herself. I love all the wonky creatures on this page juxtaposed with the beautiful Supergirl image. This page was unfortunately torn in half and then crudely taped together. That tape has fallen off but left stains on the page. It's a page crying out for restoration which will probably cost more than the page is worth but I will get it done eventually. Update: The page has been restored by ALexandra Von Hawk who removed the tape stains and glued to page back with Udagami (Japanese handmade paper) and custom blended ethulose adhesives. The page before has been moved to the additional images. Alexandra can be contacted at her website: Fine Arts Conservator Alexandra vonHawk . Social/Sharing |

Sekowsky
What you know is true
Don't have to tell you
I love your precious art
I
I was scanning
Two worlds fear
Inverse collided
And they could never tear up the art
She could live
On the powers there
But if I hurt you
Bob ink's lines draw your tears
I told you
That she could fly
'Cause demons have flames
But some of us Kryptonite
I was scanning
You're aware
Two worlds divided
And they forever, ever taped up the art

The lines are so free and loose it actually looks more like an Alex Nino page. I've never seen a Sekowsky page this "raw". Really interesting, much more so to me than his usual work!

Yes, I think Sekowsky's style is much more suited to this type of scenario.

It's like the old saying "2 pieces of art in hand is worth more than 1 on a dealers site" or something like that. Give me a break. I had a hard night and harder morning.

Yowch! The damage sounds deliberate. I'd like to hear the story behind it. Or maybe not. This may be the single darkest Supergirl story ever as she endures torture by the embodiment of her own wish to commit suicide.

True, but it has a sweet and uplifting ending.

Wild and crazy page - tough to imagine not taping it from the back but you will be doing a service when you have it conserved.
