Description

Damon returns for another sequential chapter to his gallery theme "End of Days: Charlton Universe" with 3 pages* pencilled by Ron Joseph, my first attempt at inking his work**. These were all inked over the original pencils on 11"x17" 2-ply board. Inking Ron was fun because he seems clearly influenced by the work of Alan Davis. Not sure I pulled off a poor man's Mark Farmer but it was a challenge because the pencils were fading from brushing my hand over the graphite and I had to consistently use a sheet of paper under it when inking.

From Damon's own gallery: "The dark forces that have already destroyed countless Earths throughout the Omniverse have now come to the Charlton Universe. Earth's only chance of survival depends on it's heroes uniting as one. Spookman is tasked with bringing them all together, but even if he succeeds will they be able to defeat this seemingly invincible threat?"

PAGE 1: Spookman summons the heroes as E-Man, Liberty Belle, Killjoy and Mr. E look on. Coming through the portals are Hercules, Diana the Huntress, and Mercury Man respectively."

PAGE 2: The heroes of the Charlton Universe come forth from time and space to fight it's deadliest threat ever! Static! Cosage the Cosmic Agent! Captain Brak! Wander! The Shape! Yang! It'll take them and more to even have a prayer of stopping the End of Days!"

PAGE 3: The last of Earth's heroes -- Nova and the Brute -- arrive to join the upcoming battle. Spookman marshals his forces as the enemy has now arrived!"

Bob again: the board I was working on was the kind with the vellum or rough finish, not the smooth finish I use with my Kubert boards. So marker line work looks less clean/polished than usual. These pages were worked on piecework in-between assignments so while I started page 1 November 25, 2023 I didn't finish all three until January 17, 2024.
