Hellboy vs. Etrigan the Demon by Val Semeiks & Bob Almond: Commission

This was the third and final commission related to the 2023 Terrificon but unlike the last two that were pre-show orders, this one was offered and handed to me at the show by new client Chris Swanson. This happened at Val's table...the first time I'd met by "partner" in person! After bringing it home I was ready to go and I started it until an assignment kicked in which unfortunately delayed things. But I always keep communication open to clients so they're always in the know on the status of their art. This was both my first Hellboy and Etrigan but certainly not my first time inking Val. This is my 24th commission over him.

It's funny because no matter how many times I ink Val's work, it tends to inexplicably feel challenging, possibly because it's rendered different than I'm used to, like I'm out of sync with his style? And yet, I've I've been often commended for these match-ups by clients. So until that stops I guess I keep doing what I'm doing- LOL! This commission was on 11"x17" Bristol board and completed on 11/7/2023.
