Description
"Welcome to X-Men date night... hope you survive the experience!"

Manix has done some really amazing sequential commissions (see here), and after reading his books 12 and 14, I knew I wanted a sequential commission that looked and felt like a comic page (to make up for not owning a page from either book).  The basic request here was Gambit and Rogue on a date night, and Manix put his own unique spin on the situation.  Gambit and Rogue are about to enjoy a lovely night together, until they're interrupted by Sentinels.  Then plot twist #2!  They're in the Danger Room, and the Sentinels were a prank set up by the other X-Men.  The fun and absurd sense of humor is spot on for Manix, and I love what he was able to come up with (that fifth panel with Gambit shaking his fist might be my favorite of the bunch).  I'm not sure, but this might also be his first sequential commission on a single (A3) art board; either way, he did a similar fun one featuring Kitty and Lockheed later at OAX, so there are at least two out in the wild now.

The art was too large to scan at once, so the image is cropped without the signature Manix edges.  Also, while the colors in the scan are a decent match to the actual art, the fluorescent brightness of the energy blasts and Sentinel eyes don't show up in the scan. Again, another example of Manix art that needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Thanks, Jiggy and Manix!

X-cellent X-Men ManiX self contained hitter!  His humor is spot on with comedic timing and playing with the X-Men lore.

How did you get the scanning so clear??? :D

Manix's sequential commissions are underrated! I'm so glad that it's growing thanks to you guys!

I didn't do anything to the scan (other than cropping/resizing it), it's just what came from the scanner.  If it matters, it was from one of those big multifunction photocopier machines you see in offices.  I know other collectors have had trouble scanning Manix's art, so I was surprised that this turned out as well as it did.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a cool idea for a Manix commission--A sequential panel page. And to make it even cooler, you came up with " "Date Night with Gambit and Rogue." I don't know if you gave Manix  the surprise twists in the plot, but they're genius! They get interrupted on Date Night by Sentinels???!!! Hilarious! Manix's art is perfect for this kind of mayhem! The whole idea is totally brilliant. My compliments on a great idea perfectly executed by everybody's favorite madcap artist.

Thanks, Bill!  I just gave Manix the general "date night" prompt, and everything in the plot was his idea, which he executed perfectly.

Yeah, that 5th panel is great. Has a very 'Khan!' feel to it.
