DescriptionI've only bought a few commissions in my collecting career, but after I saw Chris Steven’s phenomenal work online, I knew I'd have to give him a try. When I heard he was taking new commissions, I grabbed a spot and requested a painting of my two favorite Marvel characters--Spider-Man and the Hulk--with no further instructions and waited to see what he'd do. When I first spotted it posted on Instagram, I started getting excited. And when it arrived and I opened up the package, I was completely blown away! Painted edge-to-edge on an 18” by 24” board, the painting delivers all the wall power I could have asked for! First of all, the sheer size of the art is stunning. It's something you can’t fully appreciate on a small digital screen. Beyond the size, it's the power of the art itself that delivers an impact. Chris’ mastery of color is incredible. Here, he uses a background palette of blue, red and orange to make the figures of Hulk and Spidey pop off the board. Chris’ masterful rendering of the characters is equally impressive. Spider-Man is posed in a very Spidey-esque position, his left arm extended, shooting a stream of thick webbing from his wrist shooters. He's backlit here, a thin rim of orange giving him a good deal of separation from the Hulk behind him. And about that Hulk---Yikes! Chris painted a truly enraged Hulk, his face contorted in a scream, his massive hands ready for action, the veins on his hands popping out. Hulk seems ready to leap off the board into your lap. Psychadelic colors, a truly arachnid Spider-Man, and a Hulk about to pop through the paper and terrify the bejeezus out of you! Absolutely WILD!

Zowie, those eye-poppin' COLORS!! I love 'em! Chris Stevens is a master artist in my opinion, and you got yourself an INCREDIBLE piece here, with both characters portrayed beautifully (and powerfully). I really like the dashes of yellow that outline both characters. And it's a small thing, but I like how Chris continued drawing Hulk's left upper leg down to his foot instead of leaving that lower part out as many artists do when the figure is running at you.

I've always been a fan of any comic book that has Spider-Man and the Hulk together. I love all the different colors hues on this piece. Chris really makes everything stand out. Congratulations!

Talk about wall power! Stevens' sense of detail and depth of colors is truly remarkable and in full display. I love the sense of movement and raw power of the Hulk and the agileness of Spider-Man. I hope you can proudly display this prominently in your already amazing collection. Congrats!

Well, well, well. My two favourite superheroes of all-time, in a dazzling derring-so of devastating dimensions! I can only imagine how hard this piece slams you in the face when you gaze upon it, Bill! Stevens has been pounding out incredible looking commissions for years and this one is no exceptions. He has added this piece to the pantheon of amazing, commissioned illustrations. Congratulations!

A classic team up that hit for the majority of us during the time when they first made it on live action TV and were Marvel's biggest stars! Spidey swinging and Hulk smashing coming at us in full color on our CRTVs. It's now upgraded by Chris Stevens to be ultra high definition and exploding with a range of colors we had never thought possible!

Stevens always does great work. The color palette reminds me of an old Marvel Treasury Edition from the 1970s.

The colors are exploding off this piece! Stevens a master and the size has gotta be pretty impressive in person. You should check out his cross hatching black and white pieces. Incredible as well.

I got to see some of his pieces at OAX last year and his commission pieces were so detailed you have to see them in person to fully appreciate the color and details. Congrats on an amazing pick up.

The size of the art demonstrates the quality, the hability and the capability of this superb artist! Not easy to fulfill a complete board of these measurements! Probably what are like more are the colors chosen by the artist not only for the caracthers also for the backgrounds! The combine perfectly! That is an artwork full of energy! Majestic addition Bill.

Chris Stevens is inventing his own language for superheros with the colors, textures and even anatomy. To me, he's like the Edwin Georgi of comics with his "Stevensian" color palette.

Chris Stevens is the best color artist I've ever seen. His painted pieces are simply unparalleled. This piece is so visually beautiful and balanced it's hard to look away. Spidey and Hulk make the perfect complementary pair for this artist showcasing his understanding and mastery of colors. Gorgeous!
