DescriptionPublished 1977Professor Klean the Mad Crusader written by John Albano Plas and Woozy have to track down the mad professor who wants to blow up all the porno joints in town. A great page from the recently departed Ramona Fradon that I am happy to have in my collection. Plastic Man was created by writer-artist Jack Cole, and first appeared in Police Comics #1 (August 1941). Ramona Fradon ( October 2, 1926 – February 24, 2024) was an American comics artist known for her work illustrating Aquaman and Brenda Starr, Reporter, and co-creating the superhero Metamorpho. Her career began in 1950 and lasted until her retirement in January 2024. Social/Sharing |

Ramona's style and humor is a perfect fit for Plastic Man. The page is a winner, a head's up kind of page, with headshots of Plas on either side of his recounted (and ridiculous) origin above the title, the popped-off head of the running mannequin, and the heads of the observers peering out from the construction site and the sewer. Great image of Plas crime-fighting in stretchy action. Note to self: Falling into a vat of acid is right up there with getting bitten by a radioactive spider as a surefire way to gain super powers.

Such wonderful cartooning! How great that you own a splash page to one of the titles Ramona is most well known for.
