I've wanted to add a Marvels page to my collection for over 20 years and my patience has finally paid off! The detail in the painting is just crazy, especially in the New York City skyline. Alex Ross really put a lot of time and effort into the work.

For the Spider-Man fan that I am, I appreciate the classic Peter Parker and JJJ interaction. And, the look that Phil gives Peter is just priceless!

In the script for this page, Kurt Busiek suggested to Alex that Peter should be wearing "that jerky yellow sweater-vest he has on in ASM #37". Kurt's attention to detail like this was amazing.

Great subtle nods to moments in Marvel history! Ross' breakout series and the issue is right in the heart of the silver age! Phil Sheldon is our guide through this journey and he has one eye for a reason to witness these wonders and horrors.

I don't think Ross did better work than the painting he did on Marvels. Very cool page, Jeff, with - as you say - all kinds of special touches. I wish I still owned my Marvels page. You are a patient man.

I agree with Mark, this is some of the best work Alex Ross every did! I wish I had bought a page or 10 when I had a chance in the early 1990s. I love how Alex used real people, including some folks I knew in Chicago, as models for the characters. That skyline is breathtaking. Big congrats Jeff!
