DescriptionLake Como 2024 Pickup. This one was on my list since I started collecting commissions and Quitely did not disappoint. Even though Wolverine isn’t usually on my list of commission subjects, Frank’s redesign was one of my favorite iterations of the character. I took a shot and asked if he’d be willing to pay homage to his own image from Wizard #117 and fortunately for me, he took it on. Super happy with how this came out! Social/Sharing |

Quitely you got me excited
Striking me down with Logan, just enlightning
I love when our Wizard fighting
And do it all over again, pencils blinding (sube, sube)
Don't wanna go go go go go nowhere
Wanna commission you as long as you're here (go)
Inside your arts, this is paradise
My future's in your lines (go)
Don't wanna go go go go go nowhere
My eyes roll back when you're penciling here (run)
As long long long as you got character
Don't be afraid, take me there
You wanna come ride my wave like the Logan (eh-oh)
You wanna Wizard like this hella fun
Show me, Como (de una vez)
You wanna love me right now for Eranga (eh-oh)
Just don't walk Quitely you got a show
Show me, Como (well)

Love the texture of his pencils. Especially the way it combines with the underlying blue pencils. Great facial expression too.

Beautiful, precise pencil work. So cool that it turned out to your satisfaction! It's astounding that he accomplished this at a convention.

While I believe he could totally have knocked this out at a con (judging by the quality of the smaller sketches he did there), this one was actually a pre-show and completed at home.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that, Eranga. It's a beauty either way!

I heard about someone at Como triple-dipping on the large Quitely pieces...
It's amazing to see where he places the (insane) detail and how those choices inform the overall character of the piece.
Oozing 'tude and confidence - Amazeballs!

Quitely's collaborations with Grant Morrison are among the best teamings of writer and artist ever, and his versions of the X-Men are my favorites —especially his Wolverine, Beast, and White Queen. This is incredible. I didn't know that he did commissions, and can't even imagine what that ballpark might be.
Great pick-up, Eranga!

Yes, this is amazing. It looked so familiar and after reading, it's an homage to the beautiful Wizard cover he did. Fantastic!

He totally crushed it. One of the better Quitely comissions I saw from the con.

Well worth the flight to pick up in person. It's sometimes a challange with such a talented artis to pick the subject but you can't go wrong with Wolverine.

Such a unique design spin for Wolvie and we're all better for it - loved this run. Awesome he was willing and clearly able to take another stab at the Wizard cover image...hasn't lost his touch. Again, clearly, lol. Some fine line graphite work there. Congrats!

SNIKT! Stunning commission by Frank Quitely of the always popular Wolverine. I love the fresh look Quitely gave Logan, the new hairstyle and the X-Glove on his hand. Quitely's pencils are always interesting to study. He is able to render details so much more precisely with pencil. Logan's hair, for instance, you can practically see every hair when he draws it in pencil. And when Quitely drew his scruffy looking beard, he rendered it down to the individual hairs sticking out of his chin. Sometime I'd love to get a book just of Frank' pencils for one of he books he drew The whole book, rendered in pencil. I think I'd like that. Great pick-up by the way, Congrats!
