DescriptionThe Title "Machinations" litters the rat-ridden streets as a powerless Darkseid breaks into the local thrift shop to obtain a disguise.I have unimaginable nostalgia when it comes to Super Powers Darkseid. The Kenner Super Powers action figure was a staple in my collection and issues #2 and #3 from this volume were beloved Spinner Rack books picked up at Thrifty's back in the day. The Lord of Apokolips will not be denied his fedora and trenchcoat disguise! Social/Sharing |

Down of his luck Darkseid is something you'd hardly ever see! Second hand thrift store? He's already dressed well enough for Studio 54.

I was always aware that this series was created to help support the toy line, but until I saw this splash I never realized that the story was hokey. It has that same fun feel that I now get when I look at Spidey Super Stories!

Fun splash page by Carmine Infantino and Pablo Marcos! How amusing that the Lord of Apokolips is reduced to breaking into a second-hand store for a disguise. Isn't this the same guy who threatened to destroy the Universe? Funny premise. Nicely composed title splash by Carmine Infantino. Amusing that the title "Machinations" appears to have spilled out of a toppled trash can. Infantino fills the splash with lots of little telling details, like rats running in the alley and a sign for a comic book store on the building across the street. Great inkwork by Pablo Marcos. The rich black inks in the alley really make the scene pop off the page even if they don't make the door pop open. Fun pick-up, congrats!
