DescriptionIs there any better way to wake up than to the opportunity to buy new comic art? I woke up one Sunday a few months ago to an email from a friend of mine, linking a piece for sale in Derec Donovan's WhatNot store that he thought I might be interested in.He was very right. I'm a huge fan of Derec's work (on R.E.B.E.L.S. and various other Legion-related comics), and Andromeda is one of my favourite Legionnaires, who never gets enough love in the comic art world (or in the actual comics, themselves). I'd been meaning to start adding some pieces from Derec to my collection, and this was the perfect way to start! I love everything about this piece! The watercolours are unbelievably vibrant, Derec's lines are clean and so, so precise, and I love how deliberate his shading is, too. Everything's exactly where it should be. He really captures the essence of Andromeda's character here, too - powerful and determined. The background spacescape is even done in my favourite colours, and I love that the planets actually match Andy's colour palette. And of course, it's always great when artists remember to include the Legion flight ring! A big thanks to Derec for painting such a gorgeous piece, and to my friend who pointed this one out to me! Very nice shade of green for the starfield! Uniuqe to make the black starfield in the costume work.
