DescriptionThe rare opportunity to get the traditional work of a primarily digital artist presented itself, as did the opportunity to make it a writer/artist collaboration. And I took it.James Gordon is one of my favorite characters for very much the reason captured here. Yeah, he knows Batman is Bruce Wayne, but he's above needing to let him know that. He totally sees him sneaking up on him on the roof by the Bat-signal. He lets Bruce have that. Gordon's been around the block a few too many times to not know exactly what's going on. As Mitch was working on the piece, his frequent collaborator, Tom King, sat down and I asked if he'd be willing to put words in Gordon's mouth. He did not hesitate to agree and took the chance to have Gordon use the utter the words DC would not allow him to. He remarked that Gordon seems the guy that drops a "Jesus Christ" when shit goes sideways. Or under his breath when Bruce's crap gets a bit much. As Tom said, “Mitch’s Gordon is just so over it.” In terms of technique, I love the way Gerads rendered Gordon's eyes then painted white over them on the lenses. They still come through just slightly behind the reflective glare on his glasses. 6" x 8" Copics on Strathmore Social/Sharing |

I love Gerad's work. Congrats on getting something traditional from him!
