DescriptionClassic 1989 Jim Lee Punisher goodness!By the time Jim Lee was this far into his iconic run on Punisher War Journal, he had fully hit his stride and was on fire. Jim was no longer doing finished pencils based on Carl Potts' layouts, but was instead doing his own layouts and all of the pencil work. This page is a prime example of Jim's style and really has some great panels of the Punisher in action. Great storytelling too... dramatic entry in that top panel with an introduction.. "That's the Punisher!" Nice kill shot sequence in the middle of the page, a moment of intimidation at the bottom left, and a gritty closeup in the bottom middle panel that reminds me of a Joe Kubert Sgt. Rock type of realism with those intense eyes. Punisher War Journal 11 "Shock Treatment" -November 1989 Writer: Carl Potts Penciller: Jim Lee Inker: Klaus Janson Social/Sharing |

Dude came out of central casting for the Warriors! All he needed was three bottles on one hand. The violent gun action ripped right out of movies from that time period.

Yeah the bad guys look like your typical punks out of '80s action flicks. Frank, however, reminds me more of Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry (bottom left panel) with a bit of influence from the 1989 Dolph Lundgren Punisher movie.

Dude, I don't think I knew you nabbed this one?! Saw it for sale once or twice and it's a prime Frank AND early Jim example. Latter showing out his storytelling chops. We forgot how good he is in that regard because of a lot of the pin up-y stuff. Great example, man, in the right collection - congrats!
