DescriptionSwamp Thing #7 is one my favorite single issues, ever.Don’t get me wrong: I loved all of Wrightson’s Swamp Thing through the first six issues, each of which I bought directly from the candy store or newsstand. (And #8-10 are just as good.) But Batman?! Drawn by Berni? Wow. That Cape. Those ears. Just… wow. Flash forward nearly 25 years, and Berni revisits Batman once again with this cool Aliens crossover. It’s not Berni circa 1973 of course, but still great. I’m delighted that I stumbled onto this large art page last year. (I have a feeling I'll never have an opportunity to own a page from Swampy #7) https://greggoldsteincomicartgallery.com/berni-wrightson-batman-redo-aliens-too/ Social/Sharing |

Electric artwork by Wrightson! It looks even tighter than his Batman the Cult which came out a decade before. Very nice page as this is foreshadowing Batman's encounter with the reptilian designed Alien later on.

The Bernie Batman has a special place in Bat-history. Those few panels in ST 7 sparked a LOT of imaginations. Love this!

By the time this project was published, Bernie had long since lost the ability to produce the luch, fine brush lines that he was and still is famous for. But what he had lost in terms of stylized brush work, he more than made up for it with his typically excellent composition, design and master of shadow and light. Beautiful page, Greg!
