DescriptionI never tire of JR JR's "rain"-soaked artwork and this is yet another example - and in a full splash page at that. Although this is a splendid looking Captain America, of course it isn't Cap but Clint Barton instead. Very nice Klaus Janson inks accompany JR JR's pencils. Social/Sharing |

Don't spoil it! The bad guys don't know either as Hawkeye fits into the suit better than Greg Brady fits into the Johnny Bravo jacket! JRJR and Janson built this city with bricks and rain!

Many thanks, Dave. Yes, the JR JR rain effect is legendary and, as mentioned, I never tire of it. Do take care.

Great splash image, JRJR rain in full effect which is always adds a level of atmosphere to the scene especially on a large splash such as this. Nice combo on inks with Janson. A memorable and emotional 5 issue mini with a fantastic art/creative team on each issue and solid writing from Jeph Loeb - congrats on the nice addition CAB!

Many thanks, Kavi. JRJR somehow got his rain effect just right and, as you correctly point out, it does enhance the entire atmosphere of most pieces in which he applies it - as is the case here. I think that Klaus Janson did an especially nice inking job for this particular page.

A wonderful, regal looking Captain America, whether it be Steve Rogers or Clint Barton under the cowl. After all, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, right? I'm a lifelong fan of both Romita Jr. and Janson and I'm also as big a fan of both of them working together.

Many thanks, Rubén. It was a hugely impressive piece indeed. I must confess that I am not a huge Cap fan but the image - together with the wonderful rain effect - persuaded me to purchase it.

I said it before but I have to say it again. JrJr is unique drawing rainy scenes. To me his pencils shine very much better when KJ inks them. Fantastic cover!!!

Many thanks as always, Toni. Yes, the "rain-art" by JRJR is simply amazing! It's just a splash but, now that you have mentioned it, it does seem cover worthy as well.

Dang that is a BEAUTIFUL John Romita Jr cover!! Yeah, no one does rain like John Jr. I think for me it's especially that area where the rain hits the character's heads and bodies. You get that kind of bubbly halo look that works so well. Major congrats on another fantastic add!

Many thanks, Paul. "Bubbly halo look" is a perfect description and one that I was looking for. And although it is only a splash (no pun intended!), it does have a cover-like quality.

Wow really? Not a cover? Well, it should be a cover, so in my mind it is. There... by executive decision... it's a cover 😁

Many thanks, Corey. I am sure Alberto didn't want this one because it isn't really Cap!

Great cover.
Many thanks, Andy. But it isn't a cover - and you're not the first to say it is. It is really cover quality though!

Clint cuts an imposing figure as Cap, no question, and (just as you say!) owes a lot to JR, Jr's rain-soaking and Klaus's excellent inks. Great balance to the page, too, as Cap (in the light) pops nicely, while Patriot and Kate Bishop look great nestled in the shadows of the right edge of the page. Really fun piece, CAB! Another winner!
