Captain America #118, page 20 (Colan and Sinnott)

Shock after shock cliffhanger!  The Colan and Sinnott pairing gave such impassioned expressions with the weighty shadows!  We didn't know that Falcon was going to be a mainstay in the title this early on, but he made for the perfect partner for the time displaced Steve Rogers to catch up with the social turmoil of the 1960's. 

Many thanks, Marcus. Not many inkers could do justice to Colan's inks. Sinnott did a really wonderful job here. And, yes, who would have known at the time that the Falcon would be such a main character in the title although once he was put in costume, it was a safe bet that he would end up somewhere and/or everywhere.

Awesome page CAB! Really love the 4 panel layout here and they flow of the story leading to that final shock panel. Awesome how this is also a very early falcon appearance super cool! I really enjoy Colan's work as I enjoyed Tomb of Dracula, and paired here with Sinnot is quite awesome. Another great pickup CAB; major congrats!

And, yes, somehow Sinnott's inks complemented Colan's pencils perfectly. Apparently, because of his style, not many inkers coiuld capture Colan's pencils perfectly. Palmer was another on Tomb of Dracula.

really incredible Sinnott inking over Colan on this page from Falcon's second appearance! My favorite part about this page is the perspective of seeing Falcon and Cap through the Cosmic Cube in general, with Red Skull disguised as Cap. that last shot of Steve and Falcon where he literally has a falcon over his shoulder is really cool too. congrats on another great page

Many thanks, Kavi. As I mentioned, not many inkers could ink Colan so well. I used to lament that the late Wally Wood had only inked Colan on Cap once but this particular inking job by Sinnott is right up there as well.

I simply adore how all the scenes in the four panels are images being shown from inside the Cosmic Cube. Such a great, creative idea! I also love how Colan and Sinnott delineated Cap/Skull's face in the 2nd panel. Two masters working in symbiosis!

Many thanks, Rubén. The conceptual take from the viewpoint of perspective is certainly extremely creative and you are entirely on point in observing that there is a certain symbiosis in the work of both these artists which makes the resultant page much greater than the sum of its parts.

Colan / Sinnott what a great team on that time. They did an amazing run on Cap. That last panel is delicious. A sort of Falcon's first appearance summary! Very nice, man!!!

A winning combination, for sure! The lush and precise inks of Joe Sinnott bring an extra layer of shining to the dense and dynamic pencils of Gene Colan!

A glorious piece of Marvel magic by Gentleman Gene and Joltin' Joe! Angles and perspectives are wild, looking at it from Red Skull's viewpoint and then, last panel, Steve and the Falcon looking out of the Cube! Thanks for the book recommendations! I wish I had bought the books when Gene and Joe were still with us.
