Description

I've been a fan of Humberto since his "Crimson" days; although he was the least-known member of Cliffhanger at the time compared to his superstar co-founders J. Scott Campbell and Joe Madureira, he quickly grew to become my favorite of the three because of his consistency and true love for comics - he's the only one still working regularly in comics to this day!

Like many of the other artists whose original art I am now (re)collecting, I met Humberto and got a quick sketch from him in SDCC over 20 years ago when I was still a teenager, but unfortunately, that sketchbook went missing after several moves. Now as a working adult, I can afford to shell out for something nicer than a Sharpie sketch, but I tried rushing to Humberto's table at NYCC for the past two years to no avail - his list was always full by the time I got there.

But as they say, the third time's the charm: I finally got onto Humberto's commission list this year, and after racking my brain about who to have him draw, I decided on Gambit (not Chun-Li?!) because I'd seen his previous takes on the character and loved them. And boy did he deliver again with his smooth, brooding Gambit!

Ramos is a work horse compared to his Cliffhanger imprint partners! He'd be on time so much that there was no cliffhangers in his titles. Ramos continued with a meteoric rise and became trusted by publishers for their biggest titles. Sweet Gambit color piece! It embodies the cool stylish look of the bad boy character very well.

Humberto's artwork is always top notch. Congrats on finally grabbing a commission from him (And Gambit to boot!).
