DescriptionThis Stingray was commissioned after seeing some of Jamie's work during an indie comics panel at the November 2024 Comic Art Live. It appears to be pencil, ink, and water color on an 8.5x11 board.

(Testing comment length from the new CAF app.) Its great that you put all your love into a single character. But what happens if Marvel sends Stingray on path that you disagree with? I grew up a Hal Jordan fan a fearless test pilot. Out of nowhere, Ron Marz turned him into a maniacal killer, then, the main villain of the DC universe. And instead of being replaced with another fearless test pilot, they replaced him with an insecure graphic artist!! A GRAPHIC ARTIST!!?? Then they made Hal the freakin Spectre - thats therapy-level trauma for a Hal Jordan fan. But wait, didnt Jeff Johns come along and fix Hal Jordan? Well yes. But soon after, Ryan Reynolds comes along and portrays Hal Jordan as a complete @$$ clown MORE THERAPY FOR TOM!! So what will you do young Newell, if Stingray (whose secret identity surname is also Newell.hmmmm?), becomes a spy for Vladimir Putin, a puppet of Elon Musk, a frequent guest on Rachel Maddows show, or the next Thanos? Or what if the Alan Scott him? Will you still love Stingray then, Neeeweeeell?!

On the other, it could be interesting to see what a "dark Stingray" is like. Maybe he goes fishing with TNT? Dyes the suit red and black? Finally teach Namor the lesson he so richly deserves? If nothing else, the artistic implications could be really interesting.
