Description

Up for your viewing disappointment and displeasure is this most inadequate piece of comic art. Four measly panels with only one of the lesser X-men on it. There is also some new guy no one had even heard about until this issue... from Canada no less! It looks like the artist felt the same way… it almost looks like he started writing regrets but changed it to regards with his signature. This sorry example came to me during the wee hours of the morning in the glowing embers of OAX 2025. It was a trade deal and the details are all a bit blurry as I was tired and sleep deprived. Several friends and I were up having ice cream and some aged Guyanese rum in the hotel lobby when this all went down. I think I might have been taken advantage of in my feeble state. The art was talked up…Wolverine this and Guardian that… I was giddy from lack of sleep and poor nutrition and then plied with rum, ice cream, the luxuriously upholstered hotel lobby furniture and the balmy Orlando weather. I didn’t have a chance. I awoke in the morning with this beside me in bed. Oh well, I guess there are worse pages to come home with.

I know some of you, upon hearing my sad story, might feel pity and want to unburden me of this page. I appreciate the kind offers of mercy but this will be my cross to bear.

I guess I got Byrned!!

Wow, what an absolute piece of dog shit page you got Byrned with here! Look at the awful pencilling and the horrible inking! The content quality isabout as low as you can get, too, featuring not just a single team member, but probably the shittiest and least popular one of all time! And who givesa rat's ass about Canadins, much less Canadian superheroes?!? Get rid of this crap NOW!

Ah, the old artwork of shame story.  I remember reading about an Italian collector waking up next to a Titian painting in 1570.  He certainly had some explaining to do to his wife.

Big congrats my friend!

This should be a lesson to all that Sake and Guyanese rum do not mix. I feel for you and hate to see a OAX neighbor get burned like this, I’d give you a great Jughead story in trade to get you out of this mess.  But seriously, this is such a classic page, yeah that 3rd panel is worth the price of admission, but also love that lounging on a tree Wolverine in the top panel.  Fun Stuff!

This is a great piece to wake up to. You can see it is early Byrne since  Wolverine has the influence of Dave Cockrum at this point but his appearance changes over the later run by Byrne and Austin.

it's alright but it's no Tradd Moore...

*ahem*

HOLY MOLY. What happens in the Doubletree Orlando Hotel Lobby after dark usually stays there, except at OAX, where the victims share their trauma on CAF!

Huge congrats man, and great seeing you at OAX, until next time!

I had another look (as you do) and realised why Wolverine is so pissed off. The secret is revealed in panel 3. Drum roll, please. Some joker has scrawled his name all over his left thigh.

What was the Guardian thinking? You can't be casually throwing around "pipsqueak" up here in the North. He keeps that up and they are gonna take away his Triangle Canadian Tire card.

I'm just glad you found a sliver of appreciation and sympathy for this monstrosity and didn't kick it out of bed when you woke up next to it.  Hopefully, over time, you will slowly grow to appreciate and accept it.  Best of luck... it won't be easy.  :😜

Claws out, "Snikt" and a first appearance page.... I'm afraid to ask the number on this one.

I'm old school though. For me the selling point is simply that it's a fantastic A+ scene. Congrats!

Hey Jeff...sorry I'm late to the $hit$how! I saw this page at OAX, but passed on looking at it, as i didn't want to be traumatized by the price tag. I really feel for you and how heavy your burden of shame must be. Well, if you could only have one page from what is arguably the most memorable run in men in tights history, this may be the one. Huge congratulations my friend! I wish that I had stayed up by the fire to watch this deal go down...a part of OAX history, that we'll be talking about for a long time!

I suppose it's only fitting that this page end up with a Canadian.  Unfortunately I don't drink.  But I suppose it's never too late to start.  Now what kind of rum was that again?  I can bring by a case of it and we can talk about another trade.  Oh, and awesome write up by the way.

The writeup is better than the art.  Thanks for sharing the story and warning, so now we know to not mix art and liquor (I hope you also checked that the page wasn't drenched in anything, in case there was any literal mixing).

I hear time heals most wounds and hangovers, so I suppose this Captain Canuck page might grow on you if you leave it in your collection long enough. And it fits well enough with the "buy Canadian" movement in your country at the moment. C'est la vie!
