DescriptionI've been looking for a Magic: the Gathering painting to add to my collection for a long while now, and the perfect piece finally showed up! I've admired this piece in Ed's gallery since he posted it, so I had to jump when he put it up for sale. This piece is just too perfect. In my opinion, it's one of the best Dragon arts in Magic by one of my favorite fantasy artists, Wayne Reynolds, who is probably best known for his iconic key art covers for Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons. I love how his paintings blend the manga-inspired dynamism of Joe Mad with the sensibilities of the classic fantasy artists like Elmore, Easley, and Frazetta. It's really a sight to behold in person. I'll definitely be hunting down more Magic and Reynolds art in the future. I also want to call out the killer frame this piece has resided in since Will owned it years ago. It feels like an integral part of the piece at this point. Published: April 1, 2011 Social/Sharing |

Powerfully beastly in it's burly movement and how it spits fire like a hose with anger behind it!

Pretty great piece. Having grown up with Dungeons and Dragons, all this kind of imagery sparks nostalgia and admiration even though I never got into the MTG material. You can never have enough fantasty art.

Stunnning! Maybe the best Magic: the Gathering painting I've seen in a while! The dragon, as painted by Wayne Reynolds, is the most realistic I've seen. The pose of the dragon, the detailed painting of the texture of his skin, the leathery wings splayed out, the marvelous rendering of the flames from his mouth, it's all perfect! I love the background as well, the firey volcano erupting with fire in much the same way as the dragon. Phenomenal pick-up, congrats!
