DescriptionShowcase #101-#103 which was the real return of Hawkman after his Silver Age series ended a full 10 years earlier (1968). Murphy Anderson, the original penciller on Hawkman Volume 1 returns as inker for his protege, Al Milgrom. The pairing of MIlgrom and Anderson created a new but familiar look for the Hawks (I find their helmets a dramatic improvement from the original Hawkman series and closer to a merging of Anderson and Kuber’s versions). Strikes me now, though it didn’t at the time, that the pairing and Adam Strange and Hawkman was a bit like Flash Gordon and Prince Vultan (I’m sure not at all intentional…). Social/Sharing |

great piece of Hawkman history and a nice page featuring this artist pair and 3 great characters. group flight over the rocky waves/waters, the city background details, and the action/heroics are all here and that closeup shot of Hawkman in panel 2 is very nice. congrats on the page!

Thanks, that panel was a big selling point - and love the way Adam is breaking the panel in the 3rd one.

This is fantastic!
Thanks! Always thrilled to pick up another page from those issues and any that have all 3 of the main characters is extra special.

The Murphy Anderson inks are a delight and gives the revival more gravitas. Milgrom is making this a great sci-fi fantasy title after Star Wars made the genre hot again.

Striking page. This 3 issue run is a treat. Anderson did such a great job finishing over Milgrom's layouts. Panels 2 & 3 are amazing! Congrats!
