Description

Bryan Talbot - Grandville: Force Majeure, issue #5, p. 129, 2017.

I just love Grandville and the main character Archie LeBrock of Scotland Yard. Here he's in classic form, a gun in each hand, handing out justice in this masterpiece series.

A mob-style massacre scene from the closing volume of Talbot's unique series - a combination of anthropomorphic animal-characters with the idioms of steampunk, alternate history, and crime-thriller fiction. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 9.5" x 13.5". Signed at lower edge.

Animal Farm sure read different back then. I hear it'll be a best seller again or it'll get banned. This Talbot page rocks and makes a big statement that this story will pull you in irregardless of using the animal genre.

I’ve never heard of Grandville before, but I really like the energy in this page. The action-packed panels with Archie LeBrock firing both guns like he's The Shadow, add a great sense of urgency. The nicely rendered inking style really help bring the chaos of the scene to life and makes the page catch your eye.
