DescriptionThis is the era of comics that I first started reading. My tastes included the DC horror and Batman. So this page that melds the two is a natural for my collection. Plus being a big fan pf Nick Cardy's covers from that era, this is a nice page to satisfy me until I am able to add one of those covers to my collection.Social/Sharing |

This era of 70's B&B opened up the dark supernatural side of Batman as the horror genre was gaining popularity! Lots of ghostly tales that you weren't sure if Batman's detective skills would solve. Brown and Cardy made it feel like Batman was just haunted by the ghosts of his tragic past.

Love the ghostly effects in the top panel. What the hell is going on though? It looks like Batman is trying to bring his parents back from the dead, like some sick bastard whose mind is gone!

Yes, that is my understanding too Ruben. Funny how back then the character's personality was molded to serve the story.

It was a pretty good story. And even though I think all fans thought Martha and Thomas Wayne were buried, this story depicts their ashes. Also even their ghosts appear. Thankfully, in the end, none of that actually changed what we previously understood. Great page !!

It's understandable that the fans thought his parents were buried because DC had previouslt shown their headstones. Consistency in comics wasn't as important back then I guess.
