DescriptionPart of the Evolutionary War crossover that spanned Marvel’s 1988 annuals. A fun time before they did the summer annuals crossovers to death.I’d have been happy to get pretty much any page from this book, but this one is particularly special since it’s the first page from Ron Lim’s first Silver Surfer story (Joe Staton penciled the main story in this issue). It predated the start of Lim’s regular run in Silver Surfer #15 by a couple of weeks. And Lim showed right out of the gate his talent for cosmic Marvel with this beautiful rendition of Galactus’ herald at the time, Nova. The Silver Surfer monthly by Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers, followed by Englehart with Ron Lim, was one of my favorite books in the latter part of the 1980s. But how could the book not be great with two such titanic artists one after the other at the helm. Social/Sharing |

Superb image of Nova flying through space, returning to her master Galactus! Surprising that this is Ron Lim's first Silver Surfer page--He's already demonstrating his mastery of drawing cosmic characters in his first assignment! Love this image of Nova. You can sense her joy at returning to space in her excited expression. In fact her whole body seems to express both excitement and pleasure. Love the starscape behind her, the stars and planets that she is flying past. Phenomenal title splash from the great Ron Lim. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!
