DescriptionA few years ago, I was tuning to Nick Barrucci’s show, and he had the cover of Red Sonja 18 original art by Jae Lee for sale. He had it for a really great price, but for some dumb reason or another, I didn’t jump on it. Weeks later I regretted it and vowed if a similar cover ever came across again, I would not make that same mistake twice. Luckily, Nick came back some years later with another cover — this time with the 17th issue, and so I made not sure to repeat that mistake from a few years back.As a side story, I agreed to acquire this piece during a time of distress as my father was in grave condition. He had been sick with cancer, and was close to the end. Tuning into Nick’s show that evening allowed me to take my mind away at least for a few hours, even laugh a little bit. He passed days later, but as consolation, I was able to acquire this lovely cover. Social/Sharing |

A very nice Red Sonja cover by Jae Lee made even more special by both the second chance at art similar to one you previously missed out on and by the brief comfort/distraction it provided you during a difficult time (and sorry again for your loss Michael 🙏🏽).

I can only echo Kavi's words, Michael. I think it's very comforting for me to know that the show and subsequent acquisition of this cover provided you with some comfort of your own during such a terrible and trying time.

Michael, I'm glad you got the art, as it's in the right hands. It's hard losing someone we love, and I am glad that I could help a little. We are a community and are here for each other.

We all work though the grieving process in many ways and there is no right or wrong. Getting this cover is a net positive no matter what.
