DescriptionOk, so this is a fun one I find 😊Kerry Gammill wrote, pencilled and inked a 3 pages story for Elvira’s House of Mystery 8 (Mummy Dearest - DC) released in 1986 (from which I have never seen any OA). The printing is atrocious but given that he is inking himself (which was extremely rare for him at this stage of his career, one could even easily say he was often manhandled by inkers), it just looks fantastic. Kerry’s love for horror, especially those classic movies, is well documented and that story plays into that, so you can tell he gave his all. This piece is actually the insert that introduces the story, much like several characters did for the Warren mags or the Charlton and DC horror lines. Why was it separately drawn I’m not sure. It could be that Kerry was asked after he produced the entire story or that he wanted to isolate it to have more fun/control over it as an illustration. You get the usual Gammill high quality with the piece. His usual use of hands in the acting of the character, her face that is exceptional as she looks both sexy and poisonous and I like that she is her usual sexy without being overly sexualised (à la 90s Image comics?). She is instantly recognizable both as the character itself and as a Gammill piece. You will also note that part of the drawing was withed out, clearly due to space constraint for the insert to fit. Now I’ve never been very interested by Elvira outside of her… obvious feminine features? (I probably have seen the movie because I was the perfect age to…appreciate it), that fantastic Bolland cover for issue 1 or some of the great stuff produced by Claypool comics back when, but when she is this well drawn by an artist I LOVE, no complain and please more. Always loved how Kerry drew women, so it's no surprise that he did such a great job on the very voluptous Elvira. And nice to see him inking himself. Congrats on getting such a unique and awesome piece.

Gorgeously inked Gammill Elvira piece, of which lots of "appreciation" ensued I'm sure! I'd love to check out the 3 pager story now, as I didn't even know about it. thanks for the share/knowledge and congrats!

She doesn't leave much mystery left with that top! Though I approve.

The comic was all about her house of mystery, not her chest of mystery, as there WAS no mystery since she always let it all hang out. But I know what YOU like.....

Great Elvira depiction by Gammill that probably should have been a tshirt or poster.

Quite a classic look! She's a pin up first with those bad girl horror host features.

Such a cool Gammill Elvira, looks even better than when I bid, cover quality or minimum new corner hostess stat, congrats!

I think the REAL reason her bottom half was whited out was because Gammill seemed to draw her with both legs bare, when that outfit she always wore was a dress that had a slit that showed one leg but always covered the other one. Either way, who cares, it's a great Gammill piece!

I think Kerry is just so under rated. There really doesn't seem to be anything he can't draw. And he's got sort of a universal style that seems to suit just about any subject matter.

Is it wrong that I just can't stop thinking about the Oak Ridge Boys when I see this?!? To be fair, Gammill -did- pack this thing full of "giddy-up-pa-oom-pah-pah-MAU-MAU"...! Spectacular pick up, Fred: Sexy, poisonous, and bewitching, just as you say. My heart's on fire!
