Description

15" x 10.5" image area. Ink, ink wash and white paint over graphite on Bristol board. Vinyl overlay with stat text paste-ups and inked sound effects. Eerie #96 Page 4 "The Ark" story original art (Warren, 1978). Carmine Infantino and Walter Simonson.

In this modern-day Noah's Ark tale, the rain just keeps falling and falling with no end in sight. The townsfolk's half-hearted jokes about Walt and his home-made ark start to dry up fast as the floodwaters don't.

Such great effects! The Simonson blur and wash shading were like a cinematographer desiging the look of the story. They would show up in the b&w magazine to make you feel like you were right there immersed in the pouring rain.

A really interesting mix of artistic styles. The faces in the fifth panel are excellent, but the line and wash techniques on display are really impressive - particularly for the rain effects. Nice page!
