Description

I love this cover. A pop art masterpiece. Such a great portrait of the Ape General with beautiful inking and great contrast with the inverted silhouettes of the astronauts and primitive humans set against mountains that meld into Ursus' head piece. I only noticed today that Mike also hid the Icarus in that scene. The linework and gray tones are meticulous.

I have to thank my buddy Carl for letting go of this one.

Such a great image by Allred! It supercedes what you'd normally see from Allred with a more photorealistic image of Ursus, but the bottom reverse negative space is very much his type of imagery!

That is an awesome Planet of The Apes and Mike Allred cover, as you mentioned it has a pop art feel but also still feels very Apes. The reverse/white silhouette sequence is just superb. Love this one Lee! congrats.
