Description

Lineage for this unit is not quite clear; but it is believed to have first been designated the 1st Army Airways Tactical Squadron and was headquartered at Kharagpur, India.
Operating in the China-Burma-India area the Army Airways Communications System Units provided navigational aids, point to point communication, air to ground communication for planes in flight, weather data, and traffic control. The 1st Tactical Group was a unit organized specifically for assistance of the B-29's of XX Bomber Command.
