Description

In December 2009, Paul Renaud wrote to me and said, "The Stripbeurs Breda show is doing various things to finance the show in March 2010, and we talked about doing a portfolio with all new material from me. It would be 7 plates, pencil work of full figure female heroines, with an inked cover. I told them I would do that if they can find me enough people willing to buy the original work to make it worth for me spending so much time doing the extra work. The portfolio will be called HEROINES.

I wanted to talk to you especially about that because I'd like to do an homage piece to Dave Stevens and I thought you might be interested.
I'm doing a sort of "recreation" or reinterpretation of the Sheena cover Dave Stevens did, the one with the bow and African animals on the background. That would be inked, and used as the portfolio cover.

I, of course, accepted Paul's generous offer immediately, and Paul went to work, creating this lovely image. Due to the expense of shipping things overseas, the art only arrived in August 2010, but I am delighted with it, and especially appreciative of Paul's dedication, following on the heels of Dave's death. The original is 50x32 cm and is fully inked.
