Description

When my fiancee presented me on my birthday (or was it Christmas? they run together) with a chunk of cash to put toward new art, I turned to one of the legends of theme commissions -- the great Damon Owens -- to get some ideas for artists I hadn't worked with previously. Among several Damon suggested was Tod Smith, whom I mostly knew as "the Darkhawk guy" from back in the day. (I've always had a soft spot for teenage heroes.)

As it happened, I had a Common Elements pairing involving Darkhawk waiting in the wings -- no pun intended -- and Tod seemed like a perfect match. You can see for yourselves that I called this one correctly.

Two Hawks, No Doves -- well I say TOO BAD, NO FAIR as a team-up of Damon Owens and Michael Rankins is a DREAM TEAM that cannot be beat as far as commissions go and then reaching out to Tod to put Blackhawk with Darkhawk is pure genius!!!!!

Only the incomparable mind of Michael Rankins could come up with such a clever pairing, and props to Tod Smith for bringing it to fruition.
