Description

Cliff STERRETT
1883-1964
Nasce a Fergus Falls (Minnesota, USA) il 12 dicembre 1883. Appena finiti gli studi, trova lavoro come disegnatore generico al New York Herald, dove si occupa un po' di tutto meno che di fumetti. Dopo aver cambiato vari quotidiani, nel 1911 approda al New York Evening Telegram, per il quale realizza le sue prime, effimere strisce. Una di queste, "For this we have daughters?", incentrata su una ragazza corteggiatissima, colpisce il grande editore William Randolph Hearst, che gli propone di lavorare per la propria agenzia. Alla fine del 1912 appare così "Polly and her pals", che impegna l'autore fino al 1958, quando va in pensione.
Muore a New York City (New York, USA) il 28 dicembre 1964.
Con George Herriman (l'autore di Krazy Kat) è considerato uno degli autori più innovativi e importanti del suo tempo.
