For now, this gallery will only have pages from Justice League Quarterly # 3 as pages from that issue are currently the only examples of Mike's artwork I have in my collection! Back in the early 1990's, I was making regular trips to visit Mike Zeck at his home in Connecticut. I'd usually stay at Mike's place in West Haven and then visit John Byrne at his home which at the time was in Fairfield. I'd usually stay at Mike's for 2-3 days and we would often get together with other friends of his on these trips. One of the folks I met and became friends with was inker Bob Smith. I started selling some of Bob's work and buying pieces from him for my collection; among the pieces I bought which I really liked was all of his pages from Justice League Quarterly # 3. I sold a few of the pages to help cover my cost of the artwork I had bought and was happy to keep several pages for my collection. Flash forward approx. 25 years and Mike McKone started coming to the Baltimore Comic Con as a guest. Long-time friend and Green Lantern collector supreme Mike "Off" White was helping Mike McKone sell some of his artwork and he offered me dibbs on all of the pages that were still available to Justice League Quarterly # 3. I bought them all with the far-fetched hope of someday completing the issue. Well, I managed to obtain approx. 50 of the books 72 pages and gave up on the quest. I still have around 40 of the pages and will post some of them in this gallery.
