Gen 13 was the coolest book of it's time, attracting great talent like Warren to do fun and irreverent stories. This is a great cover James, I love it. 

I'm very concerned for spider-man's Left thigh/glutes. Great piece Tyler, another stunner for your collection.

Also, may be worth asking Rob if he had assists on the inks at the time from Mychaels or one of the other extreme guys for posterity. The faces are purely rob, but the cross-hatching and filling of blacks, some of the hair may have been an assistant. Always fun to know.

So..many...teeth. I loved this book too, Rob's enthusiasm for comics and his eschewing of ALL the rules made for such an exciting and entertaining time in comics. He bled for the page, and what he lacked in skill as such a young cartoonist he made up for in sheer love of the game, and he knew what comics readers were aching for in New Mutants/X-Force. This artwork is burned indelibly into my memory (especially Toad's teeth).

This was a pretty important moment where McFarlane starts inking himself, his idiosyncracies really made him stand out when this was released. Very cool to add to your collection. Excellent find.

I think I've let you know how much I love this page, From that body horror in panel 1 to Colossus' punch in the final panel, this page rates as Adams and Austin in top form. This is one of those pages that makes you want more and more. Good luck with your new Art Adams addiction.

I thought this was one of the best pieces posted on the latest CAL and is a beautiful example from a great run by an A+ team. Immonen set the bar for the 2010s with his masterful work on the X-Men and Von Grawbadger is his best inker. Maybe the last great X-Men run?

Darwyn was a treasure, and his work is sorely missed. The small details are what makes the piece(is that a self portrait of him walking in the door?) The ceiling of the diner stands out to me, simplified but distinct. A once in a lifetime talent. Thanks for sharing.

To be fair superman is walking around in long Johns with a cape and his underwear on the outside of his outfit along with essentially go go boots. There may be more coverage but I don't think it's any more dignified.

Very cool, Kavi. I did the graphic design on these covers years ago. Robert illustrated, Simon Gough colored the figures and I did the layouts, backgrounds, logos and Effects. I have original art for the Leo and Shredder and some of the layouts from Robert as well. My one comic credit!

Thanks, Jason, I didn't either, but it was interesting to hear the debate. In case there was any doubt I have it from Quitely himself: "I saw it online and it was so low res that I wasn't 100% sure, but I suspected it was mine, but now that I'm seeing a higher res image it's def me."

I was just rereading this very issue of Back Issue Magazine. Wonderful to see the cover come up on CAF. It's a great reimagining by Byrne, the greatest superhero comic book artist of his generation. His Wolverine is the definitive Wolverine. Great piece.

I really like how he dropped the contour line from the chin. Love the texture on Rhino as well.
