Apparently this was a period of the strip where he leaned into some more humorous over the top characters and you can see the Al Capp influence really coming through. I'm fascinated how some of these amazing artists and their strips can fall into obscurity. This is a great example!

Lots of great subtle texture work in this one! Inking e the treatment of the water in the third panel especially. It's a beauty Jeff! 

Haha yeah the whole thing has a certain unintentional vibe to it. The first thing I actually thought about when I saw the strip is this hilarious picture of Frank and his wife on the beach with Jordi Bernet, this strip is about a decade before that pic though.

Wonderful piece with tons of great texture and detail! Is he using a white screentone to push the buildings into the deep background or did he just ink them with a broken line? A real showstopper!

Congrats Chris, this is a really gorgeous piece! I started reading Hellboy around this time so I'm partial to this Third Wish period of Mignola's evolution (although HB in Hell is my favorite). A wonderful addition to your collection!

He nails these collage, movie poster style compositions and manages to capture everything that's iconic about Mike's stories. Dark Horse should absolutely be shoveling money at Mark to draw anything in the Mignola-Verse! The two stories we have are not enough! I'm lucky to have a commission from him on the way and seeing your amazing piece drove my excitement through the roof!
