What a flashback!  It just took one big panel, but the trauma lingers on like a flickering flame onto the next page.  It doesn't even have rounded panel corners.

Correct, which shows that Harlan is experiencing the past in "real time," as opposed to a flashback that's being narrated, or a scene that only readers know about.

the mystery sketches travel to europe, pretty cool! Elvin does a nice job giving us a movie poster style feel for the character and the universe of Dampyr. 300 issues of 94 pager stories on a monthly basis is quite impressive, I enjoy seeing what you share from those here. have they ever considered doing english translations or is the interest not really there?

The first two issues were republished in English as a single 192 pages story "Dampyr: Son of the Devil" in 2020, perhaps in anticipation of the English Dampyr film covering the same origin story, which was released in 2022. It's a decent action film with a particularly good portrayal of Kurjak, the Bosnian soldier drawn into vampire-hunting.

One thing I missed was how and why Harlan and company persuaded Nina to accompany them to the castle. And why did they also reveal their true identities to her.

That's true. Many issues of Dampyr contain a scene where the latest "new human friends" learn that Harlan is a Dampyr, Tesla is a vampire, and vampire hunting is their game. We saw such a scene in issue #228 "The Servant" for instance. It's such a common occurence in this series that sometimes it's assumed rather than shown, to avoid repetition of similar material every month.

73 pages, and the heroes haven't even entered the castle of Dracula Park yet! These Italian books put a lot more emphasis on dialogue than rapid plot progression.

This was a wacky story that fit together Sekowsky's "Dragon Lady" stand-in with not only Catwoman but also Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, whom DC was promoting for their own upcoming licensed series. Note the misspelled "Nehwon." Giordano used cool panel shapes atypical for DC of that era.
