And boy, did Johns nail this . . . taking one of the most beloved origin stories and making it mean so much more than a lazy retcon. Observe a young William Hand in the lower left of page 6. After Atrocitus looses his battle here with Sinestro and rookie Hal Jordan, Billy walks away with the Atrocities maguffin that sucks Latern power, setting the stage for him becoming Black Hand and eventual leader of the Black Lantern Corps. |

Pleased to see a fellow CAF member won the auction. I was a Freshman when my friend Ronny called me at home one weekend telling me I had to go buy the new issue of the Flash because of this great new artist doing the Dr. Fate backup story. Levitz, Giffen and Mahlstedt were a magic combination that helped resurrect DC alongside Wolfman and Perez. I recently picked up a more modest page from 310 a placeholder until I can find one as magnificent as this. |
