This is an unfortunate tale and I'm sorry you were unable to get a piece from Joe. I too began this journey in 2021 and can only say that I had a lot of communcation with Joe about the piece and he was excited to give her a try. Absolutely! That third panel is the one that really sucked me in. It's almost supernatural, like seeing something from another realm reaching towards the reader.

What's crazy is how many times my eye has been drawn to the shading on the chair of all things. Look at the use of light, shadow and texture. On a chair!

The Fine Art Editions have me just poring over his line and wondering how the hell anyone can be so precise and whimsical at the same time. They're worth studying for sure.

The year he did this for me he was tabled next to colorist Jack Gray and just down the isle from the Chaos crew. It was a magical time!

Back in the day I wasn't a big fan of Mark's inks in this book but I have a real appreciation for them now. Steven inking himself will always be my favorite but these Morales pages are so smooth and distinctive. You know my love for Hughes and I'm happy this ended up in a good home. Congrats!

Jack is one of those underrated and unfortunately sort of forgotten about Chaos artists that did such amazing and fun work. This piece is a real beauty in person, he's a super talented guy and I still try to talk him into coming back to comics weekly :D Thanks for checking it out!

I totally remember this issue! That Joe Mad TMNT blew my mind and I remember thinking this piece was so crazy it just might work. It really doesn't get any better for a 80's convergence with modern comic art. Congrats on the pickup, it's a really fun one!
