As someone who has always loved the process behind the finished art, it has always been enjoyable to see any process related notes and drawings on the borders of original art pages. Glanzman does it again, so fun!

Fun stuff! It's kind of sad that a con promoter would sell off art pieces that were given to him as a thank you from the artist. But hey, his loss is your gain!

A very rare 'Nam commission, and very cool to see!

I love the full background. This is the type of commission I much prefer, as it feels like it's telling a story.

I always really enjoyed drawing with charcoal, but it's tricky to work with when you're inexperienced. However, when you're very experienced, the range of shading you can achieve with it is very impressive, as Brehm illustrates here.

Oh! At first that's what I was thinking. But then I saw George's comment before mine, who also used "the", and he's an actual musicial and BIG TIME into music, so that's what threw me off, as I thought George MUST know who System of a Down is, regardless of whether if he's a fan or not. I figured it must be a small change related to the story and that you and George had both read it and were aware that they made the change in the story. Oh, and only mpw did I notice the extra image and realise it's NOT a comic story, and that the proper name is written on the published tarot card!

The art in this issue has more of a Spidey Super Stories feel to it. On another note, Bouncing Boy ended up getting a girl?!? And a hot babe at that?!? Will wonders neve cease?

This page gives you a sense of what it must have felt like to be in such a situation where you're, not "abandoned" per se, but simply in a situation where you're cut off from your own people and are wide open to attack with almost no defense available to protect yourselves. Can't let this go without mentioning how great the drybrush is!

What a great idea and gift. And even without seeing the photo reference, I can tell the artist captured her likeness very well!

Wonderful! One of the main reasons I dislike "single character-no background" commissions is because the character inevitable appears to be floating in a void, so they never feel as if they have any weight to them. But look at what a difference just having him appear to be stepping on his own signature, makes to the overall weight of the character. And just a bit of pencil smudging in the background gives the impression that there isa solid structure behind him. No more Negative or Phantom Zone!

Giella certainly helped smooth out Heck's lines around the edges, making them, and thereby the characters, more attractive. Her face in the final panel is almost Buscema-like! Great reverse transformation, too!

Thanks for including historical notes when applicable, Peter. it always adds more to the enjoyment of the art. I'm not sure I've ever seen a point of view like the one in the first panel here, with the camera looking out from just underneath where the "Jap shells" are flying! Sp beautifully lit, too.

I just saw a news report saying that over the past 365 days, the Philippines GDP rose by 1.2% due to a single Northern California resident's art purchases alone! Thankfully the art is fun!

This is a fantastic, example of McGarry's work, especially his stippling technique! The colors are also fantastic, consisting of Dr. Martin’s dyes (the same product American comic book colorists used before computers), airbrush and a bit of white paint for highlights. Congrats on a great gift!

 Fyi, PopShots was actually a precursor to The Diary of Rock & Pop in The Star. McGarry did a few weeklies, but when he learned that a slot for a daily strip was opening up on the strips page, he pitched The Diary of Rock & Pop and he abandoned PopShots.

The three panel layout is great, as it offers a larger canvas for each illustration and Glanzman used them to great effect. Each panel is a winner, and I especially love the black smoke coming out of the cannon!
