I am almost glad you beat me on the auction for this page, as until I read your comment I never noticed Saker and Dynasty share the same uniform insignia.

I feel like the last panel is even more amusing since the page's publication, since Marvel has had an ultimate universe since then.

I always remember this storyline because DC had an editorial page on the inside front cover of some comics at the time, and one of them spoiled the then-upcoming Gangbuster revelation and Superman's trip into space.

I really need to see if I still have an issue with that column, as it was the embodiment of how not to hype a story.

As someone who has gone through so many cases of mistaken identity that I keep in touch with someone just so I can contact them to verify one of the more outlandish incidents when people doubt it, I appreciate the story you shared.

This run was my introduction to Diego Bernard's work.  I'm kind of jealous, as I missed out when a bunch of pages from it were on EBay years ago.

Wow, thank you for sharing this!  Back in 2010 I picked up an Inside Image issue that had a thumbnail of this page.  It inspired me to start a "Superheroes on the moon" theme for my collection, although I only ever had three artists down for the concept.  Thanks for giving me the chance to see a detailed picture of this page!

Someone posted this years ago on a forum without attributation, and I always wondered who painted it.  You did a wonderful job on it!

Relevant comic-related story: Despite being on the other side of the country, Eclipse Comics used to send stuff to be given away at comic cons local to me.  Among them were several Miracleman promotional items, which were among the things I got rid of years later when my mother had a flip-out about how much "junk" I've had.

Over the years I've had several Miracleman fanboys flip out on me for "lying," as they refuse to believe there could be items they didn't know existed, let alone have.

It is a perfect example of Dula Luck that I read your comments mere minutes after receiving a comic page I purchased (in part) because a sex joke on it reminds me of a conversation I had about sex around the same time the issue was published.

Avengers #s 82-84 had a story arc that was to set up The New Invaders.

Or so I've been told.  I enjoyed The New Invaders, but actually missed those Avengers issues, and never got around to picking them up.

Now I need to dig out my Union Jack commission based on his New Invaders look.

Nick Fury vs SHIELD is my all-time favorite limited series from Marvel.  This page sticks in my memory because part of it was used in an issue of Marvel Age, with different colors from how it appeared in the mini-series.

Back in the day I had a friend who loved this page, bevause it showed off that Cap wore chainmail, and how that would protect him.  Thanks for sharing this!

I’m sorry to hear you were unable to get a commission from Caldwell; I was either the second-to-last, or third-to-last person to get a commission from him.  I actually have another commission from him, but it’s NSFW.  Given the one I have posted on here I’m sure you can guess which one on his site is my other commission.

Given the lettering on the bottom left and the page number in the top right, I suspect this was a pin-up for Justice League Quarterly, though whether it was lunlished is another matter.

I think the bit with the girl being punched was him roughing out J JonH Jameson's son fighting a girl on the other side of the board.

Byrne's renditions of Fury never disappoint.

I wish I'd thought to get an inked Maxima piece from him, but I was in more of an Elseworlds Supergirl phase back then.
