Wilson/Janson--Luke Cage, Power Man #23 Cover (1975) Owner: Bill J Comment posted on 11/30/2023 Ron Wilson is a greatly underrated artist, and this period of Janson's artistic development is among my favorites... it's almost like he inked fine feathery details a while, then defiantly turned the brush from the tip to the belly and laid in big juicy edges and spotted blacks with complete fearlessness. |

Trimpe / Everett - Outlaw Kid 2 Cover Owner: Mark Levy Comment posted on 9/13/2023 Trimpe is in fine form on this cover, and I love that Everett was still trying interesting and novel approaches at this stage of his career... varying the line weights and spotting of blacks to push and pull the foreground and background is a great effect! Great pick up, congrats! |

|
Bachalo--Uncanny X-Men #600 Cover (2013) Owner: Bill J Comment posted on 3/1/2023 Interesting composition and deft problem solving by Bachalo. Drawing upright, gesturally arrhythmic figures like this creates real challenges in creating something interesting, but Chris pulls it off in service to his design idea. Bachalo almost made it through the whole image with his motif intact, until Kurt decided to mess with the formula! |

Gene Colan--Doctor Strange #172 Cover (1968) First Major Dormammu Battle Cover Owner: Bill J Comment posted on 2/7/2023 Gene Colan and Dr. Strange are one of the great artist/character pairings in comics history, and this historic and wonderful cover marks our first exposure to Gene's take on the Master of the Mystic Arts. Another nice touch for fans of Dr. Strange, Dan Adkins inking this cover marks the conclusion of his well-drawn dozen issue run on the series (starting in Strange Tales), handing the series over to Gene in style. Peak comics! |
